The Medic First Aid Instructor Development Course will authorize students to be medic First Aid Instructors. They will be able to provide training in MEDIC Frist Aid/CPR, applications and use of automated external defibrillators (AED’s) disease prevention from bloodborne pathogens, and applications. Students will learn lifesaving skills and practice CPR and First Aid procedures during the course. Upon the completion of the course, students will demonstrate their knowledge and practical applications of both life and saving skills and competent instructor skills.

Course Outline
To successfully achieve course completion from the University of Texas Health and Safety Training Center participants are required to attend the entire day of the course, running from 8: a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Individuals missing more than 15 minutes of the training will be required to attend another course date to ensure all subject areas, required skills, and /or time requirements are met.
Prerequisites
- Individuals at least 17 years old who hold current provider certification and/or demonstrated competency in layperson adult, child, and infant CPR, AED, and first aid.
- This is a blended course that requires an online portion prior to the face to face course. The online portion covers the essential cognitive content using text, still images, and interactive exercises. Students will be required to bring their certificate of completion of the online portion on the day of course.
